Our story

BTMA was founded to serve communities, relieve poverty, protect vulnerable people and stand alongside those facing oppression.

B-Transformed Mission Agency began with a simple observation: the people who need the most help are often the last to be offered it. A man walks out of prison with a bag and a bus pass. A mother skips meals so her children can eat. A teenager drifts into trouble because nobody ever sat down and listened.

BTMA was set up to be the people who sit down and listen, and then do something practical about it. [Year founded, place and founder's name to be added by BTMA.]

Why we exist

Poverty, prison, addiction and isolation tend to arrive together and feed each other. Food alone doesn't solve it, and neither does advice alone. People need someone to stay, and a community that treats them as a person rather than a case.

We also believe that lasting change begins with the renewal of the mind. That is why food parcels, training and advice sit alongside mentoring, pastoral care and a church family where people can belong.

We affirm the dignity and potential of every individual.

How we work today

Our work runs through six programmes: prison and reintegration, food and poverty relief, mentoring, skills training, family support, and addiction and recovery. We hold two services a week at The Light Chapel International, and we work with churches, prisons, probation services, councils, charities and employers. Through trusted partners we also give practical help overseas.

What hasn't changed

  • Everyone is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
  • Practical help is never conditional on faith or on attending worship.
  • We stay for the long road, not just the emergency.
  • We are open about how gifts are used.
